With a Radford's Defense holding The Tar Heel Club to a scoreless game, a muffed punt in the Third Quarter, causing an ensuing 2 point safety, made it possible for the Tar Heels to squeak by Radford with a 2-0 win at the end of the Sunday, October 4 game in Chapel Hill, NC.

Defensive stand-outs included Justin Coulter who had 2 sacks on the day, and Versatility Player, Captain Matt Bales who played defensive end for the 4-3 package that was set up against the Tar Heels.

Radford University Football suffered its second loss of the season against Fork Union Military Academy this past Sunday, September 20, 2009. The defense held strong against FUMA the entire first half, but without the momentum of a scoring offense the force proved too much to control against a powerhouse team like Fork Union.

The entire Radford defense contributed to an outstanding performance, but versatility player Matt Bales proved to shine above the rest as he faced Fork Union's number one prospect, 6 foot 7 Morgan Moses. Morgan Moses, a versatile offensive lineman for Fork Union proved to be a tough opponent against Radford's defense. All day Matt Bales managed to give the future Division 1-A athlete a handful all on his own. It was truly a day that Matt Bales will remember for the rest of his life.
